.........::The Dream House Project :: Architecture and Design
The Dream House Project is where we were to design a house. We were to find its area, how much it would cost to build, and make a floor plan (shown left) using Google Sketch up. I used Google Sketch up to also make the elevations for our house.
For the exhibition, we showed off posters to market our houses, and plans. These plans included the building cost, the site plan and vicinity map. the address, the floor plan, the elevations, and the square footage along with general information on the house.
In my group was Evan Graye and Khalil Johnson. Evan was in charge of drafting out the floor plan, and Khalil was the one who found the prices and materials for our house. I was the project manager.
My favorite part of this project was probably learning how to use Google Sketchup. It was very satisfying and cool making a successful 3D image, and awesome learning how to utilize a new program. It is also the part of the project I was the most proud of, and I also think our floor plan and elevations were the best part of our presentation. I was extremely proud when I could move the camera around the elevation of the house and it worked well. I think I can use Google Sketchup for future projects as well, and it widens my range of what computer programs I know how to use. However, if I were to do this project again, maybe I wouldn't choose to do something so absurd as a lighthouse. It sounds really silly and looks a little bit silly too. But, those were my group member's decisions and it cannot be helped. I think the project turned out very well, though.

Below is a picture of the Site Plan. The Site Plan is where the house should be placed on the land, so it's not over the water or something absurd. Our house was to be placed near water, because it is a lighthouse.

Above is a picture of the front elevation, made by me in Google Sketchup. The Lighthouse in the back and the stairs leading up to double doors are visible in this model. Two windows are on the front, and there is an attached garage.

These three pictures are examples that helped inspire my group to make a lighthouse.

This is the final set, which was printed out and displayed. This contains the pricing, the area in square footage, the floor plan, the elevations, and other.
