The Haunting of HTHI
The Haunting of HTHI is a project in which we stayed overnight at our school building to investigate the myth and stories of ghosts. We studied about the history of this building, such as how it used to be a naval training base and a steel factory, and how thousands of years ago, ancient Kumeyaay Native Americans used to live on this land. We also investigated stuff such as what could possibly cause a ghost to stay here. For example, a muffled scream of a woman was heard on the second story of this building, and our teacher discovered that a rape murder had happened in this area. In Math and Physics, we investigated different types of sounds to figure out of what we heard were simply machines around the school. We made a documentary film of our adventures to exhibit to our school.
The vignette my group was assigned was The History of the Native American group, the Kumeyaay. We got the opportunity to talk to a Kumeyaay Indian and interview him about his culture. I learned about how unfair Native Americans are treated and how they could not repossess their land after the Navy had claimed it. I also learned that the Kumeyaay Native Americans are treated very harsh and live in areas today with very hard living conditions. It was quite interesting learning about these people.

This is the video that my group and I worked on. It contains information of the ancient Kumeyaay Native Americans and has an interview with a real Kumeyaay Indian. we had him lecture us and we also interviewed him about Kumeyaay culture and what had chased the Kumeyaay out of their indiginious land. |
Greek Play Production Project
Our play was not picked for the actual production. For our Greek Play Production, we chose the play written by Rebecca Meyers and Heather Macomber, With Nothing Left. The play was about a man driven insane by his greed, who started out as a nice guy that everyone loved. Slowly his greed turned his whole life upside down and he ended up losing everything. I contributed to the play by helping out with doing the backdrop, being an actor in the actual play and helping to write and edit the actual play with Lena Hilliard. I'm proud of the entire play itself; it won awards for Best Backdrop, Best Chorus, Best Actor, and above all, Best Play. I really never thought it would win all of those awards, but it did and I'm glad our cast did so well. I can't think of anything to change, though.

Greek Playwriting Project
The Greek Playwriting Project is a project in which we write a play based off of and in the style of Greek Tragedies. We had to write plays that had a moral and involve and a flaw and a current issue in society. For my play, I worked with Kirby Brennan. I worked mainly as a story boarder and she as a writer. We both did an equal amount of work. I'm proud the storyboard turned out well and that our play placed second among all of the plays. Our play targeted the issue of Homophobia and the human flaw of fears. It was about a boy named Troy who was homosexual and everyone bullied him because of it. He runs into the street one day to avoid a couple of school bullies but is then hit by a car and supposedly dies. He wakes up in Olympus, the palace of the gods, and the gods give him the choice whether or not he should really die or be returned back to the mortal world.

My World in Motion: Memoir Project
"My World in Motion" is a project we are doing to put together memoirs and vignettes. This project is based on Sandra Cisneros' "The House on Mango Street," in which we are going to put together our own personal memoir just as the main character Esperanza did. This memoir is unique to us and simply represents who we are. We were to write about places, objects, symbols and other things that had some sort of value to us. We did vignettes with a prompt such as how we got our name, or what is a place we would call home. We would do poems that didn't have such a prompt, more of a set writing style we had to use such as making a poem that was circular. Here are drafts of my four memoirs and vignettes in the form of poems and journals.

These four are drafts because they are not formatted to be part of the final memoir.

These are the final vignettes to be put into the "My World in Motion" book. All of these are final drafts because I've made all of the changes I think that needs to be made to each of these and I believe they are ready to display.
