A Picture is Worth 1000 Words
This painting, our first project in Art, was a collaboration between Art and English. We chose a painting to remake-- for this, I chose "Drifting" by Josh Keyes-- and in English we made a story based on it. We chose a painting from an artist we liked. We researched a bit about the artist to learn if their environment could have affected what she chose to do.
The project objective was to inspire the English story, and combine the creativity of two different classes-- to tell a story through words and picture.

Bread And Cie. Art Show
This project is which everyone made at least one painting for a cafe in Hillcrest called Bread & Cie.. Our exhibition was on March 14th, and the art show lasted from March 6th-April 2nd.
I did a series of three paintings of my own creation, bread dog. Bread dog is a happy baked puppy with different types of bread making it up-- it has baguettes for legs, bagels for thighs, french sandwich bread for its body, a hot crossed bun for its head. A chocolate hornet for its snout (and its nose is the chocolate part!) and a smaller baguette for its tongue, croissant for its tail, chocolate cookies for eyes and chocolate pie for ears.
The other two paintings in the series are Bread Dog in Soup and Bread Dog in a Basket.

Abstract Watercolor
We were transitioning out of acrylic and into watercolor.
To do this, we made abstract paintings, just to get a feel for the medium. For mine, I colored the entire paper with shapes intersecting one another, and made sure no two colors were next to each other. I used circles, rectangles, and triangles of different sizes.

Atmospheric Perspective
After we got the hang of watercolor, we were challenged to do something less abstract. Jeremy gave out diffferent pictures demonstrating atmospheic perspective (pictures with something in the background, middleground, and foreground. The background is less saturated than the foreground).
I picked a picture with forest and a barn in the middleground, mountains in the back, and grass in the front.
The objective was to use our new knowledge of watercolors and apply it to more real-life paintings.

En Plein-Air
After getting a hang of painting comprehensible objects and settings with watercolor, the class went out and walked to the bay to draw things we saw with our own eyes.
I sat upon a hill and drew a view from the bay, frames by two different trees.
I also laid on my back as a seagull flew overhead, so I painted what I saw in that moment here.
The objective was to take what was saw and paint it.

Doodle 4 Google Competition
I decided to enter the "Doodle 4 Google" competition of 2014 (as it is the last year I may enter). The prompt for the competition was "If I could invent one thing to make the world a better place..."
I, taking a rather cheesy route but nevertheless not any less important to me, chose teleportation devices for my invention. With technology today, we are connected to people all around the world in most all ways except physically. In my doodle, a girl from America uses the teleportation device to travel to Paris to her boyfriend. I tried my best to make a long-distance love story within the space of the image, while also spelling out "google" to the best of my ability. (The e would be backward, but most of the word is there!!)
If I were to win, I would win $30,000 for my college funds. I hope to win, though, because I think it would be an incredible honor and would open many doors for me in the future for a good job.

The Austin Jones Project
For this project, we had character design artist Austin Jones come in and teach the class how to draw characters. The goal of this was to take a movie character and turn them into something they are now-- it could be an animal or a object.
I took Rose Tyler from Doctor Who and turned her into a werewolf-- but not only just a werewolf, but a dainty werewolf. With Tea. And pink skirts. The two images linked were my main references, but I used a real wolf and another picture of Rose as well.

Dystopian Representation
In English, we made Dystopian worlds based off of things we found wrong with society or things we wanted to critique. For my project, I made a news radio show podcast that talks about a society that completely lacks freedom. In the episode, there are interruptions and mentions of a group of rebels, planning on overthrowing the "queen" of the country.
This painting was meant to represent various segments of the radio show. There are talks about clothing, haircuts, and at the last moments it is revealed that everyone wears masks-- essentially, everyone looks the same. The clouds are gray and the sun is red because of bad air. In the beginning, it is mentioned that there is a wall that surrounds the whole country (which some people call the cage, hence the bars). The story mentions rebels graffiti on the walls, and later it is said it was cleaned up. The scene also is supposed to depict one of the radio show hosts on the beach, seeing the walls. Lastly, this is all through the perspective of someone else, thus the blue around the corners.
