Language:..|| Mandarin:..
I have Erik Martin as my main language teacher, but Melody Lu is the person who is actually teaching me Mandarin. We are using the traditional classes once every week but we mainly use Rosetta Stone to learn our languages. For this semester, we have been doing a project called the "Virtural Road Trip" where we travel three Spanish or Mandarin speaking countries. I have mine posted on a tumblr blog, and it is linked under Language in the drop down menu for 10th grade.
The other project we have done is the "Dia De Los Muertos" project, or more appropriately the "Day of the Dead" project. [Personally, it didn't make too much sense to name a project something Spanish when there are Chinese students in class as well...] This was a project to celebrate the upcoming Halloween. We had to draw something relating to the dead as well as including to aspects of our culture in it. I had to draw something relating to Chinese culture. For mine, I drew a girl with her ancestors behind her, holding yin and yang symbols in their palms. This related to Chinese culture because Chinese worship their ancestors and they strongly believe in the philosophy of yin and yang. I named my piece "Silver Skull," after the girl.
