Math
In Math, we are learning 9th grade Math such as Algebra and Geometry with Jeff Major. My successes this year have been being able to understand the concept and material, as well as being able to teach it to my classmates when they need assistance. I can help my peers with concepts like factoring and putting together an equation from a word problem. I feel like I'm mostly ahead, but Mr.Major manages to teach me new things and things to those who don't know as much as me as well. My struggles currently are with proofs involving parallel lines and angles, which is a difficult topic for me to get through on ALEKS.
I don't have any revised work because I do well in class -- as evident in my ALEKS pie chart, I am quite ahead compared to everybody else. There are little mistakes here and there on a few of my homework though, but those little mistakes are ones I try to learn from rather than fixing them for one more point.
During the first semester, we learned about Quadratics and how to solve quadratic equations. We learned several different types of solving methods, that being factoring, simple factoring [reverse FOIL], using square roots, completing the square and using the quadratic formula. The Quadratic formula is the formula that could solve any quadratic equation. This is the quadratic formula. You have to plug in the a constant, the b constant, and the c constant and the multiply and solve.

Throughout the third quarter, we've learned things such as simplifying many equations and expressions, such as rational expressions. We've also looked at word problems and how to define and what you're looking for in the word problem and make an equation out of it.
Currently, I've moved classes in ALEKS from Algebra to Geometry. Geometry is certainly challenging me. I've mastered the Algebra and Deductive reasoning slice on the pie chart, and I'm doing quite well on the Lines and Angles slice, though the proofs are challenging me. I find the volume and area slices quite simple. Right now I'm being challenged by ALEKS, and I'm learning a lot from it.
